Equity & Diversity Education Programs

Dropout Prevention
The Community/Student Dropout Prevention Advisory Committee is involved in the reviewing and disseminating of the “Best Practices in Dropout Prevention Document” that highlights national, state, CCSD, and community  programs.  The EDE Department establishes partnerships with organizations and agencies that touch  on the dropout issue, facilitate dropout prevention conferences /workshops. 

Scholarship & Financial Aid Workshops
This program offers a series of school/community college preparation information, SAT and ACT test study strategies, optional high school/college course information, and criteria for securing future scholarships and financial aid.  Community partnerships have also been established to facilitate this program.

Benjamin Banneker
During the 2002 National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Conference in Las Vegas Nevada, the Benjamin Banneker Association (BBA) provided Mathematics Achievement Awards to elementary, middle, and high school African American students for their outstanding achievement in mathematics.  As a follow-up to this activity, Clark County School District (CCSD), the Benjamin Banneker Association, and the Educating Through the Arts (ETTA) Inc. hosts an annual mathematics award program  entitled , “CCSD Student Mathematics Achievement Awards Reception.”  This program has been extended to include Hispanic, Native American, and other CCSD students.

Indian Education
The Indian Education Office provides the following direct services and cultural resources to the Clark County School District’s Native American Indian community:

  • Tutoring
  • Postsecondary education and career counseling by Student Success Advocates
  • Native American Indian scholarship and financial aid guidance and identification
  • Academic enrichment activities and field trips
  • Cultural enrichment activities and field trips
  • School supplies
  • Summer school payment
  • SAT and ACT testing fee payment
  • Tribal documentation information and enrollment assistance
